Roll the Dough Bakery Logo

Overview:

The objective was to create a logo for a newly opened bakery in Las Vegas. The shop operates with the concept of a modern twist on the classic pastries. They need to create a brand that reflects the idea. A logo makeover will help differentiate their identity from other bakeries around the Vegas Valley.

Goal:

The logo should modernize classic baking images, such as wheat stalks or pastries, with a monochromatic color to create a contemporary logo. The design needs to be memorable and easy to recognize.

Project Experience:

I spend most of the process sketching out different baking elements, such as a rolling pin, a whisk, wheat stalks, and pastries. I settled on three concepts with different approaches to each one. The logo is mainly a wordmark-style design. The typography is big and bold, so it would stand out and contrast with the illustrative element in the middle. The second concept is a combination-style logo that combines the wordmark and an icon. The illustration represents a bread roll and the twisting motion of the dough. The last design is a combination-style logo combining the wordmark and icons. The bread roll is more of a classic illustration; the design and composition of the wheat stalk give the logo a sense of contemporary to the logo. Ultimately, I chose the second design. The logo is a clean and simple design that conveys a theme of modernization of the store’s classic pastries. The more classical script font combines with the modern sans serif to convey the synthesis of classic and modern.

Project Outcome:

I believe that the outcome of the design was successful. I was able to create a simple logo that represents the theme of the brand. The limited design elements help the consumer recall the logo better than the more complex logos of other bakeries.
